Today, after the lessons in the morning, we had our lunch and when to John Lewis, our meeting point where the coach was waiting to take us to Blickling Hall. This is a stately home which is part of the Blickling state and is located in the north of Aylsham in Norfolk.
This house was property of the Boleyn family, Thomas and Elizabeth Boleyn, and their children Mary, Anne and George were born there. Anne Boleyn was the Queen of England between 1533-1536, as she became the second wife of Henry VIII. She gave birth to Queen Elizabeth I, one of the most important queens of English history. Unfortunately, she was accused of treason and was executed.
It is said that, every year, on the anniversary of her execution, Anne Boleyn's headless ghost arrives at Blickling in a carriage driven by an equally headless coachman.
This house has been voted to be one of the most haunted houses in whole Britain! And it has also appeared in films, video clips, TV series, etc.
Today we have enjoyed the real English weather:
And you can see how our students have enjoyed it:
We have visited the different rooms of the mansion but we haven't seen the garden because of the weather.
And now some of the most intellectual people we have found in the library of the house.
And two more! Who are they????
Here they are:
Some history of Blickling Hall:
To finish with, we'd love you to see the beautiful pictures that Telma has taken:
And to finish with, the word of the day is portrait.
See you tomorrow!
